Gold Country Field Guide
Tell GCA About the Firearm or Collection You Want to Sell
This is the practical starting point for a firearm owner, heir, executor, or collection seller who is ready to tell Gold Country Ammo what they have. The seller does not need to identify every firearm, determine its value, or know which California process applies before beginning.
Tell Gold Country Ammo what you have and what you are trying to accomplish. You do not need to identify every firearm, know its value, or understand the California process before you begin.
This intake is for a single firearm, inherited firearms, an estate, a collection, or firearms accompanied by ammunition and accessories. It gives a GCA associate enough context to decide what information is needed next.
What GCA needs for the first review
- Your name and a reliable way to reach you
- Your general location
- Whether this is one firearm, several firearms, or a collection
- Whether an inheritance, estate, deadline, or uncertain ownership issue is involved
- Whatever make, model, caliber, condition, ammunition, accessory, or collection information you already know
- Optional photographs when they can be taken safely
“I do not know” is an acceptable answer. The purpose of the form is to identify the next question, not to make the seller diagnose the firearm or transaction alone.
Before uploading photographs
- Do not handle an unfamiliar firearm merely to obtain a better picture.
- Do not submit serial-number photographs, identification, financial information, or estate documents through this form.
- Do not ship or bring firearms to an appointment until GCA confirms the next step.
- If safe photography is not practical, describe the situation and ask to speak first.
What happens after you submit
A GCA associate reviews the information stored in the Firearm Intakes section of WordPress. Gold Country Ammo normally responds within 24 hours by the contact method you provide.
The next step may be a phone conversation, a request for clearer identification or photographs, or a confirmed appointment in Placerville or Cameron Park. For an appropriate collection or circumstance, GCA may discuss an initial review at the seller’s location. Any acquisition or transfer still follows the process allowed by the applicable federal and California licensing.
GCA purchases individual firearms and collections outright when the firearm and transaction fit its acquisition authority. Submitting the form is not an offer, appraisal, acceptance of a firearm, appointment confirmation, or legal conclusion.
Privacy and retention
Intake details and uploaded photographs are stored in the WordPress database and are available only to Administrators through the Firearm Intakes area. The form normalizes accepted photographs to remove ordinary embedded metadata. Intake details and photographs are retained for 60 days and then deleted under the form’s retention process.

Prefer to speak first?
Call 530-626-6700 or email firearms@goldcountryammo.com. Tell us whether you have one firearm or a collection, your general location, and whether an estate or deadline is involved.
The intake begins a conversation. It does not replace the licensed dealer process, eligibility review, estate authority, or case-specific legal advice that a particular transaction may require.
