Reloading .32 Winchester Special cartridges requires dies that match the cartridge rather than a generic .32-caliber tool. The press supplies the mechanical force, but the die set controls case sizing, depriming, neck expansion, bullet seating and—when the loading process calls for it—roll crimp.

We selected the RCBS 15701 full-length two-die set for the die station in our .32 Winchester Special Loading Room. It gives the handloader the principal case-sizing and bullet-seating tools for this bottleneck lever-rifle cartridge.

What problem does this die set solve?

A reloading press cannot determine the dimensions of a .32 Winchester Special case or seat its bullet correctly by itself. This cartridge-specific set performs those operations and keeps die adjustment tied to the case, bullet, rifle and current loading reference instead of treating the bench as a collection of interchangeable tools.

What each die does

• Full-length sizing die: resizes the case body, removes the spent primer and uses the expander-decapping unit to prepare the case neck to accept the bullet.
• Seating die: controls bullet seating with an adjustable seating plug and includes built-in roll-crimp capability when the chosen bullet, case preparation and published loading procedure call for it.

The sizing die includes vents intended to reduce case damage from trapped air or excess lubricant. RCBS specifies standard 7/8-inch-14 press threads and supplies the set in its green storage box.
