Description
A traditional 220-grain soft point for heavy hunting
We make this 220-grain .308 Viper for hunters who want an extra-heavy, traditional soft-point bullet rather than a long, sleek match design. Its 6S ogive, exposed lead tip and flat base define the bullet we offer.
What the Viper design is meant to do
The exposed lead tip provides the conventional starting point for expansion when the bullet meets resistance. The heavy 220-grain construction is intended to carry mass through penetration while the soft point opens. Actual expansion and penetration still depend on impact velocity, the load, the rifle and the target encountered.
This bullet belongs in carefully developed hunting loads for suitable .308-diameter, high-powered rifle cartridges, including the .30-06 Springfield and other rifles whose chamber, twist, magazine and cartridge capacity can accommodate it. We do not present it as a long-range match bullet or assume that its weight alone makes it suitable for .300 Blackout.
Choose construction as deliberately as weight
Choose Viper for the traditional exposed lead-tip soft-point path. Choose Razorback when the serrated jacket treatment is wanted to help initiate expansion. Choose Scorpion when the small open-tip design and its controlled, penetration-oriented behavior are the better fit.
We supply 50 bullets in each box. Confirm cartridge fit, twist, seating depth, magazine clearance and feeding in the actual rifle, and use appropriate published load data for the exact cartridge and bullet weight. The live stock status controls whether this bullet can currently be ordered.
