Description
When the rifle already favors 150 grains, geometry becomes the decision
The rifle, carefully kept notes and seasons of load work may already point to the 150-grain class. The next useful choice is not another vague promise of performance—it is whether the intended handload calls for a flat base or a rebated boat tail.
Gold Country makes this .277 Viper for the handloader choosing the rebated-boat-tail path. It combines a 150-grain weight with an exposed-lead soft-point spitzer and copper-jacketed lead-core construction. This is a box of 50 component bullets, not loaded ammunition. It is made to order and normally fulfilled within seven business days.
Why this option exists
Factory ammunition and mass-market component selection cannot account for what every individual rifle prefers. A separate RBT listing lets the handloader choose this geometry directly, without mistaking it for the companion 150-grain flat-base Viper or sorting through a variation selector.
What this component gives the handloader
- 150-grain .277-inch hunting-bullet weight
- Exposed-lead soft-point spitzer profile
- Rebated-boat-tail base geometry
- Copper jacket and lead core
- Hand-swaged, small-batch Gold Country production

Choose the neighboring path
Choose the companion 150-grain flat-base Viper when that simpler base geometry better fits the rifle and intended load. Move to the 140-grain Viper when the project calls for a middle-weight soft-point choice.
Cases, primers, powder and load data are not included. Use an appropriate published load-data source and verify cartridge compatibility, dimensions, seating, twist, firearm condition and safe function. Accuracy and terminal behavior depend on the completed load, firearm, velocity, distance and impact conditions.
