Description
When the target matters more than early expansion
A handloader choosing a 190-grain .308 bullet for deliberate target work needs the construction to match the job. This Scorpion puts flight consistency first. Its hollow/open tip is a result of the way the jacket closes at the nose; it is not a promise of rapid expansion. That makes it the Scorpion choice when the aim is to develop and evaluate a heavy precision load, rather than to select Viper’s exposed lead-tip soft point for hunting.
This version has a rebated boat tail. It is physically different from the 190-grain Scorpion flat-bottom bullet, so the two pages represent different starting points for load development. The base form alone cannot tell you which one your rifle will group better; the completed load has to establish that.

Work from published data for the actual cartridge and rifle. Confirm bullet fit, seating depth, magazine clearance and stability during load development. Do not treat an open tip as evidence of hunting expansion or a guarantee of accuracy.
Read the Gold Country Scorpion Bullet System for the open-tip design purpose and its distinction from the soft-point Viper and delayed-deformation Razorback.
