Description

For a heavy .30-caliber load built around precision

Some handloaders move to 190 grains because they want to test a heavier bullet at distance, where consistency and flight matter more to the project than a hunting soft point’s early upset. This .308 Scorpion is Gold Country’s open-tip choice for that work. Its nose is designed around precision flight; it should not be confused with a Viper lead tip or a Razorback serrated hunting tip.

The flat bottom completes this bullet’s identity. It gives you a defined 190-grain bullet to evaluate against other weights and base designs in your own rifle. Weight and an open tip alone cannot promise a particular group size or long-range result. The useful question is whether this geometry suits the cartridge, rifle and distance you are developing for.

Why choose Scorpion?

The Scorpion Bullet System is Gold Country’s precision-first open-tip line. Choose it when flight and repeatable rifle-specific accuracy are the purpose of the load. If your primary objective is earlier hunting upset, look to the Viper soft point. If continued penetration under resistance leads the hunting choice, look to the Razorback.

We hand swage Scorpion bullets in small batches, keeping forming and inspection close to the maker. The result is a specific design to test, not a generic promise attached to a heavy grain number.
