The Ruger Redhawk in .44 Magnum was born from a singular demand: raw power that could be trusted in unforgiving conditions. Whether holstered on the hip of an Alaskan guide, slung low for backup bear defense, or nestled beside a ranch gate, the Redhawk is a working revolver—one that doesn’t blink when the stakes are life and limb.

Introduced in 1979 and continuously refined since, the Redhawk was Ruger’s answer to the need for a heavy-frame, double-action revolver that could handle full-house .44 Magnum loads without flinching. This modern 7.5″ model (KRH-44) features a sleeved & shrouded barrel, adjustable rear sight, and satin stainless steel frame—blending rugged durability with elegant balance.

The long barrel maximizes velocity and sight radius, while the hardwood grips and sculpted frame help manage recoil from even the hottest handloads. This is not just a revolver—it’s a companion for hunters, backcountry travelers, and serious revolver aficionados who respect what it means to carry a legacy of firepower.

In the 1970s, the rising popularity of the .44 Magnum revealed a flaw in traditional double-action revolvers—they couldn’t handle the punishment. Ruger, known for overbuilt reliability, designed the Redhawk from the ground up with one goal: survive the heaviest loads in the harshest places. Forged in stainless steel with no side plates and triple-locking cylinders, it became a favorite for Alaskan guides and hunters needing backup against grizzlies. More than a gun, it’s a legacy of trust in firepower.
