When the heaviest Gold Country .30-06 choice is the point

The .30-06 Springfield earned its place with a wide range of bullet weights, yet most current shelves concentrate on 150 to 180 grains. A hunter deliberately looking for a 220-grain load can discover that the classic heavy end of the cartridge has nearly disappeared from ordinary selection.

This Gold Country load answers that problem with a 220-grain .308-diameter Razorback bullet in new Starline brass. It is the heaviest choice in our current Razorback .30-06 pair, built for the shooter who has already decided that bullet mass matters more than following the common-weight crowd.

Available to order: 20 loaded cartridges. Gold Country ammunition is produced in small batches and normally ships within seven business days.

Why choose 220 grains instead of 200?

Choose the 220-grain load when the reason for leaving conventional .30-06 weights is to reach the heaviest option in this Gold Country pair. The related 200-grain Razorback load is the neighboring answer for shooters who want a meaningful step beyond 180 grains without moving to the maximum-mass choice.

What the Razorback contributes

The Gold Country Razorback is a jacketed lead-core bullet with a rounded 6S-ogive profile. Its jacket and nose construction are intended to support controlled upset while retaining structure. That is design intent, not a promise of maximum penetration or a particular result on game. Actual behavior depends on impact velocity, target medium, shot conditions and the individual rifle.

Velocity basis and firearm fit

The approximately 2,450-fps figure is based on published load data and is not a Gold Country chronograph result. Actual velocity varies with barrel length, chamber, bore condition, component and ammunition lots, temperature and other conditions.

Heavy 200- and 220-grain .30-06 bullets are longer than many lighter bullets and may contact the rifling in rifles with unusually short throats or match-style chambers. Use only in a firearm marked for .30-06 Springfield. Confirm that every cartridge chambers freely, feeds correctly and fits the magazine before use. Establish point of impact in the rifle that will be carried.
