El Dorado Hills Estate

Some rifles carry the personality of their owner—quiet, capable, and always ready when the moment calls. This Ruger M77 chambered in 6mm Remington has that feeling the second you lift it. It’s a rifle from a different era of Ruger craftsmanship, when Walnut and steel were shaped with intention and rifles were meant to last a lifetime.

The M77 was Bill Ruger’s modern interpretation of the classic bolt-action—stronger, cleaner, and built around the Mauser-style controlled-round feed system hunters trusted for dangerous terrain and unpredictable game. This example features the 24-inch barrel, the sleek early-style walnut stock, and the distinctive Ruger medallions set into the grip caps—details that place it among the more sought-after early-production M77s.

The chambering, 6mm Remington, remains one of the smoothest-shooting and best-balanced medium calibers ever introduced. Its flat trajectory and low recoil made it a favorite for Western hunters who moved between coyotes, mule deer, and antelope without changing rifles. Even today, shooters who know the caliber call it underrated—and unforgettable.

From an estate in El Dorado Hills, California, this rifle was clearly owned by someone who cared about their tools: the wood is clean, the bluing strong, and wear consistent with responsible use rather than neglect. A classic leather sling accompanies it, reinforcing its role as a field rifle that earned its miles honestly.

Whether displayed, collected, or put back into service, this M77 represents the best of Ruger’s early bolt-action legacy—dependable, handsome, and beautifully suited for the hunter who values feel as much as performance.
