The 160-grain Scorpion for a 7mm project that is ready to move into the heavier class

You have worked through the familiar middleweights and want to find out what a true 160-grain .284 bullet can do in your rifle. You also want a Scorpion open tip and a flat base, rather than an exposed lead-tip Viper or a rebated boat tail. This bullet gives that search a precise answer.

At 160 grains, the question is no longer simply whether a bullet is heavier than a 140 or 150. Bullet length, usable seating depth, throat clearance, magazine space and stability can all shape the finished load. This page connects the bullet to the technical material needed to decide whether it belongs in your cartridge and rifle.

Why this bullet exists

A clear step into the 160-grain class: for the handloader who wants more mass than the 150- and 155-grain choices without moving directly to 165, 175 or 180 grains.
Scorpion identity: an open-tip bullet, distinct from a Viper exposed lead-tip soft point.
Flat-base construction: the defining base geometry for the load you want to test.
Small-batch availability: hand swaged and made to order when a specific weight and construction matter more than choosing whatever is common on a shelf.

We supply bullets, . Cartridge fit, seating depth, throat clearance, magazine compatibility, stability and safe load development must be verified in the actual rifle with current published data. Accuracy and terminal behavior depend on the completed load, firearm, impact conditions and target medium. No numeric ballistic coefficient or universal terminal-performance promise is made.

Decide whether 160 grains solves your rifle problem

The 160–165 Grain Class Guide explains where this heavier middle fits. The bullet length and stability Technical Note shows why weight alone cannot answer the fit question, and the 7mm Cartridge Bullet Selection Guide connects the choice to the cartridge, rifle and intended job.
